Vay Tiá»n Nhanh. For this week's throwback video, here's one, recorded back in 1983, of the late legendary balladeer Matt Monro singing Vehnee Saturno's slow classic "Be My Lady." Monro, in his brilliant baritone that even Frank Sinatra could not help but praise, delivered a rich rendition of the Filipino favorite, which is also the theme song of a show of the same title starring Daniel Matsunaga and Erich Gonzales. According to Saturno, the recording featured arrangement from Dante Trinidad and Jun Orenza, and was produced by Boyet Manahan of Dyna Records -one of the first indie record labels in the country. It is one of the few documented recordings of Monro, who died from liver cancer in 1985, singing a Filipino hit. His son, Matt Monro, Jr. performed in the country last year. Matt Monro had a voice that even the legendary Frank Sinatra could not help but gush over. Photo taken from the late music icon's official website
